Medical Care Requirement: The Company's right to deny benefits for any period in which the insured is not under the care of a physician. Companies may require that the care must be appropriate, according to generally accepted medical standards, for the condition causing the disability, and must be provided by a physician whose specialty is appropriate for the condition. Companies may waive the requirement if reasonable proof shows that care of a physician is no longer necessary. Companies will likely reserve the right for occasional examinations by their own physicians.
